2 Ga. General Assembly Seats Go To Voting Runoffs

Three seats in the Georgia Legislature were on ballots Tuesday.

There were eight candidates for the District 43 Georgia Senate seat, that was previously held by Democrat Ronald Ramsey and includes DeKalb, Newton and Rockdale counties.

Republican JaNice Van Ness and Democrat Tonya Anderson were the top two candidates, but neither got enough votes to win outright.

They’ll meet again in a runoff in December.

In Columbus County, near Augusta, Republicans Jodi Lott and Mack Taylor will be on runoff ballot for the District 122 House Seat come December.

In Lithonia, Democrat Doreen Carter got just 82 more votes than Democrat Sherri Washington in the race for the State Representative seat in District 92. But that’s enough to take the seat.
