According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 6th District Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff proposed to his longtime girlfriend Alisha Kramer on Friday night. Kramer grew up in Atlanta and is a third-year medical student at Emory University. She and Ossoff attended Georgetown University.

They dated for 12 years, and, according to the AJC, Kramer has played a big role in Ossoff’s campaign.

During the campaign, Ossoff has faced questions about his place of residence and relationship status. Ossoff has said once Kramer graduates from medical school he will move to the 6th District. When asked why he doesn’t live in the district, he said Kramer needs to be close to school.

Recently, CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota asked him: “So when are you going to marry her?”

“Well, I don’t want to give anything away,” Ossoff said. “But I think I can reasonably say that’s more of a personal question. I’ll give you a call when I have something to announce.”

Ossoff will face off June 20 against Republican candidate Karen Handel in the special runoff election for the House seat in the 6th Congressional District. According to reports, Handel congratulated her opponent and his bride-to-be on their engagement over the weekend.
