It’s safe to say that NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert has been a big success. Since its start in 2008, the series has presented more than 800 concerts and been viewed more than 2 billion times as a collective on YouTube. Artists span a wide range of genres, from indie to punk to pop and classic, with only one rule — all equipment must fit behind a desk in the studio.

Bob Boilen is the creator behind the series, and he joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes recently to talk about the Tiny Desk Contest. The 2020 Tiny Desk Contest is accepting submissions now. The deadline is March 30.
