AARP expert weighs in on stopping fraudulent robocalls

STIR/SHAKEN is a technology framework created to reduce fraudulent robocalls and illegal phone number spoofing.

STIR stands for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited and SHAKEN stands for Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Kathy Stokes, the director of Fraud Prevention Programs at AARP and the leader of AARP Fraud Watch Network, discussed combating robocalls and new rules adopted by the Federal Communication Commission for phone service providers.
