The new president of Agnes Scott College is Leocadia “Lee” Zak. She was director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency during the Obama administration. She’s a graduate of a women’s college, Mount Holyoke.
Zak says she loves the Agnes Scott traditions, especially the ringing of the bell for seniors to mark getting a job offer or getting into graduate school. At her announcement speech, Zak told students, “What I see in the coming days is that my job is going to be to ring that bell every day for you.”
Zak takes over for Elizabeth Kiss, who will step down June 30.
The Agnes Scott announcement on Tuesday is the latest higher education shake-up in metro Atlanta.
