Airbnb Offers Free Or Reduced-Cost Housing To Healthcare Workers During COVID-19

In response to the challenges healthcare professionals are facing, Airbnb recently announced a new program that will help provide free or subsidized housing to COVID-19 responders.

Doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers are on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, medical professionals around the country have reported a shortage of critical medical supplies.

In response to the challenges healthcare professionals are facing, Airbnb recently announced a new program that will help provide free or subsidized housing to COVID-19 responders. The company stated its goal is to provide housing to 100,000 healthcare workers.

On today’s edition of “Closer Look,” host Rose Scott spoke with Tom Martinelli, Southeast regional policy director for Airbnb, about this new initiative, and the larger impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the home-sharing industry in general.
