As the nation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, astronaut Ron McNair’s brother, Carl, spoke to “Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam about his brother’s “big dreams” and legacy.

America celebrated Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon 50 years ago this month.

The Apollo 11 moon landing was a glorious feat for the nation and served as an influence on Ronald McNair, who would become an astronaut.

Many years later, he died along with six others during the launch of Space Shuttle Challenger.

“Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam met with McNair’s brother, Carl, on the Apollo 11 anniversary. He recalled how that mission alone cemented big dreams for Ron and their family.
