Atlanta BeltLine Opens Southwest Connector Trail

Another Atlanta BeltLine trail is now open to the public. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed along with other city and BeltLine officials dedicated a new one mile connector trail in southwest Atlanta on Saturday. Aleck Ragsdale has this report.

This new BeltLine connector trail extends from Beecher Hills Elementary School to Westwood Ave. 45 year old Bruce Morton grew up in this neighborhood and has been working in the community to preserve this greenspace.

“This will be a community asset where people can not only connect to other communities, but also be introduced to other things like hiking, mountain biking”.

In his dedication, Mayor Reed said bringing the BeltLine to Southwest Atlanta shows his administration cares about all sections of the city.

“If anybody believes that the Atlanta BeltLine is not going to connect to southwest Atlanta, flow through southwest Atlanta, and be a part of the life of southwest Atlanta, this is my answer to you today”.

There are now almost seven miles of paved trails in the Atlanta BeltLine.
