Atlanta Bicycle Coalition Releases List Of Recommendations For ‘Creating A More Equitable City’

In the early days of the pandemic, traffic in Atlanta — and nationwide — subsided for a short time.

Due to shelter-in-place orders, more people were staying off the roads. As a result, more alternative forms of transportation took off.

Last March, bicycle sales rose 50% compared to the year before, according to The NPD Group, a market research firm.

The organization also estimated 10% of riders were hopping on their bikes for the first time.

Will this surge in ridership continue, even after the pandemic?

Rebecca Serna, executive director of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, joined “Closer Look” host Rose Scott on Monday to discuss this and share details from the coalition’s latest list of policy recommendations.
