Surgeons top the list at $263,150, followed by internists ($251,030), family and general practitioners ($211,140) and dentists ($163,210).

The Top 10 job categories also include chief executives, financial managers, lawyers and compensation and benefits managers.

Many job titles outlined in a study by the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s parent company, American City Business Journals, show local positions make around three to six percent less than the national average, likely because of Atlanta’s affordable cost of living.

Other jobs in Atlanta don’t pay as well as the national average. Environmental engineers here bring home an average of $68,530, or 22.6 percent lower than the national average.

In Atlanta, financial analysts make 16.7 percent less, and urban and regional planners take home 19.2 percent less.
