Atlanta Opening Emergency Warming Shelter Ahead Of Cold Weather

Atlanta city officials say they’re planning on opening an emergency warming center ahead of frigid weather that’s expected to move into the area.

Officials say the Old Adamsville Recreation Center will open Wednesday at 6 p.m. as an emergency overflow shelter for up to 100 people. City officials say the shelter will remain open as needed.

The National Weather Service has said an arctic air mass is moving toward Georgia and temperatures are expected to drop Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Officials have said Thursday’s lows could range from the single digits to the teens and very cold wind chills are also expected in several areas of the state.
