Need a passport? Several local United States Postal Service (USPS) offices will make it easier for travelers to get one — for one day only.

On Saturday, USPS will host passport fairs at 10 offices throughout the Atlanta District. Times vary by office (see below). Though the passport fees and processing time are the same, the passport fair allows customers to apply without making an appointment.

“The passport fairs make it convenient to apply or renew a passport,” USPS Strategic Communications Specialist Rick Badie said. “Travelers can have their passport photo taken and submit their application at one location without an appointment.”

USPS recommends that, in order to speed up the process (the selected post offices will only be offering the services from two to four and a half hours depending on the office), customers download passport applications from travel.state.gov and have them completed upon arrival. Each customer must have a valid piece of identification and a back and front copy of that piece of identification to continue the process.

Customers can bring their own Passport photos, which are 2×2 inch head shots, or have them taken on site for an extra $15.

Customers looking to purchase passports for minors (under the age of 16) must have the minor accompany them to the passport fair. Both parents of the minor are to appear in person or have a notarized authorization and copy of identification (front and back) of absent parent.

The USPS locations and times of operation of their respective passport fairs are as follows:

Barnesville Post Office – 138 Forsyth St., 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Forest Park Post Office – 4989 Courtney Dr., 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

Griffin Post Office – 101 N. 8th St., 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Jackson Post Office – 461 E. 2nd St., 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

LaGrange Post Office – 950 Lafayette Parkway, 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

McDonough Post Office – 100 Postmaster Dr., 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Midtown Passport Acceptance Facility – 1072 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Newnan Post Office – 60 Postal Pkwy., 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

Sharpsburg Post Office – 6545 GA-54, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Stockbridge Post Office – 110 Walter Way, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

“Of course many select post offices process passports year round but passport fairs are routinely held across the United States on weekends,” said Badie. “Travelers can find a list of post offices offering passport fairs on the USPS blog or website usps.com.”
