Atlanta Symphony Music Director On The ASO’s Spring Season

When we last spoke with the Atlanta Symphony music director, Robert Spano, he talked about how the Orchestra has adapted to performing together in person, though, not to a live audience. The new format was a series of fall concerts streamed on the ASR virtual stage. Now, the ASO has announced its spring series.

The ASO spring series will include concerts such as “Behind The Curtain: Tyshawn Sorey’s For Roscoe Mitchell” on Jan. 14. The concert meshes together classic and contemporary, combining the music of Joseph Haydn alongside Tyshawn Sorey.

The series will continue with Bruch’s Irresistible Violin Concerto on Jan. 28. Violinist Randall Goosby will be making his ASO debut performing Bruch’s violin classic.

Music director Robert Spano joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk about the wealth of new concerts coming up at the ASO.
