It’s a big weekend for Atlanta soccer fans.

The MLS season begins Saturday with Atlanta United playing in Nashville.

Here to talk more about our home team and what we can expect this season is the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s soccer reporter Doug Roberson.

Roberson spoke to “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress about Atlanta United and the team’s new players.

Atlanta United has already played a couple of games in the Concacaf Champions League and actually advanced to the quarterfinal round this week.

And about this weekend’s game: It’s in Nashville. They have a new team — Nashville SC — and this will be their first MLS game.

Atlanta United’s home opener is next weekend at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and everyone expects the stadium to be packed. Coach Frank de Boers is in his second season leading the team.
