Atlanta’s MARTA Launching Pop-Up Market At Station

Atlanta’s public transit system is launching a weekly pop-up produce market at one of its train stations.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority officials say the weekly market at the West End station will officially launch July 17, but a soft launch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.

Officials say many West End residents and MARTA customers who were surveyed said they’d buy fresh produce at the station if it was available.

MARTA officials say the market will run Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m. until October. The market is being managed by Food Oasis, Community Farmers Market and the Southwest Atlanta Growers Cooperative. Cash, credit and EBT payments will be accepted.

Officials say Wecycle Atlanta will also offer bike tours to local farms every third Friday of the month.
