Sonam Vashi, the co-founder and co-director of Canopy Atlanta, says the local independent news outlet wants to make sure all metro Atlantans get the information they need to make informed decisions.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Vashi and Max Resnik, the Documenters Network Manager at City Bureau, discuss bringing the Documenters Network program to Atlanta.

According to Canopy Atlanta, the program will train and pay metro Atlanta residents to attend and take notes at public meetings, which will then be fact-checked and condensed into a digestible newsletter format.

During the conversation, Vashi and Resnik said that documenters will be trained to use journalistic skills and will cover 50 government agencies across five metro Atlanta counties.
