City of Chamblee creates program to boost local nonprofits
The City of Chamblee recently launched a new initiative to help strengthen and empower local nonprofits.
Brittney Lindsay, Chamblee’s community engagement manager, says there are more than 40 nonprofits within Chamblee’s city limits and several others surrounding the area.
On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Lindsay told program host Rose Scott that amid the pandemic, nonprofits have experienced budget cuts and staff and program reductions — and yet, they have picked up the pace to meet the pandemic demand.
In an effort to support nonprofits, Councilman Brian Mock established the Chamblee Nonprofit Partnership Program (NNP).
“This is an opportunity for idea sharing, for just networking and collaboration,” explained Lindsay. “I do speak to a lot of our nonprofits on a regular basis and a lot of them don’t realize that there are other nonprofits that can help them push their initiatives forward.”
