It’s been 50 years since the Stonewall Riots in New York, and this Pride Month of June we’re looking at contributions from the LGBTQ+ community in all areas of society.

City Lights’ host Lois Reitzes spoke with our music contributor Scott Stewart about some of his favorite past and present LGBTQ+ composers in the classical arena.

“The takeaway from all of this is that musicians, including many composers — the LGBT spectrum have made (and continue to make) impactful and lasting contributions to the art communities,” Stewart said.
