Thursday on “Closer Look with Rose Scott”:

  • 0:00: Rose Scott gives a news brief on remarks from Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue, co-author of  a revised bill, called the RAISE Act, which seeks to make approval for immigrants, seeking green cards, merit based. Yesterday, the White House said this is the most significant reform to the nation’s immigration system in 50 years.
  • 4:23: There are more accusers coming forward alleging sexual abuse at Georgia’s Darlington School. The former students claim school officials knew about the abuse did nothing. Attorney Darren Penn, who represents some of the former students, gives us an update.
  • 20:12: A 2015 Georgia law called Hidden Predator Act made it easier for victims of childhood sexual abuse to file lawsuits against their accusers, in the past. State Rep. Jason Spencer, R-Woodbine, who proposed the 2015 bill, explains why he now wants to see it expanded.
  • 36:36: A congressional bipartisan legislation is seeking to hold some classified websites liable for sex trafficking. Longtime anti-trafficking advocate and policy adviser Deborah Richardson explains the proposed measure.
