In Conversation with Pearl Cleage

In this installment of Valerie Jackson In Conversation, we speak with Atlanta’s own Pearl Cleage.  She is a nationally recognized playwright, author, and poet, as well as the Alliance Theater‘s Inaugural Artist in Dialogue.  Beginning September 5th, The Alliance Theater will open its 2012-2013 season with Pearl Cleage’s world premier performance of What I l Learned in Paris.  

Valerie Jackson will speak with Ms. Cleage about her latest play and her relationship with the Alliance Theater as well as her previous works for the stage beginning with Flyin’ West.  They will also chat about Pearl’s latest book release featuring some of her favorite characters, alongside some new and ususual ones,  set in the West End of Atlanta.

Valerie will explore the origins of Pearl’s creative self and how her family life influenced her writing and thinking.  Finally, Pearl will share some of her poetic work from an Oprah Winfrey Legends event.  An Atlanta treasure, Pearl Cleage, here on Valerie Jackson In Conversation.
