The latest figures from the state show a third of all deaths here have come from Georgia’s elderly.

WABE’S host of “All Things Considered,” Jim Burress spoke to Andy Miller, the editor of Georgia Health News about it.

Miller said one senior care facility in Albany, Georgia, has had upwards of 16 residents who have died from COVID-19.

Miller added dozens of residents of the PruittHealth-Palmyra nursing and rehabilitation facility have tested positive for the disease, including more than two dozen staff members.

Burress asked Miller if Georgia Gov.  Brian Kemp’s March order to send in the national guard and other measures to protect those in long term care faculties was enough.
