“Dance Adventures: True Stories About Dancing Abroad,” written by Megan Taylor Morrison, is a collection of stories centered around the real-life experiences of dancers all across the globe.
The book’s goal is to highlight the connection that dance creates in us all through a shared love of movement and rhythm. The book contains stories from renowned performers, educators, and avid dance performers.
Megan Taylor Morrison joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes for a conversation about her book, and the power dance has to connect us all.
Interview highlights:
Morrison on how the idea for the book began:
“This project started two years ago. At the time, I had just closed my company that had cultural immersion through the arts and dancing. And I wanted some way to continue that mission and to share with people all over the world about how dancing abroad can invite us into these incredible experiences of cross-cultural friendships and unexpected moments and a better understanding of local cultures and local people. “
Dance is more than just movement:
“It’s about seeing who we are and where we can grow as people and performers. Because ultimately, it was about releasing perfectionism, trusting himself, and believing that he would be able to dance. And those are lessons that don’t just serve us as dancers.
