Jack Radcliff is on a mission to stop a murder that has already happened. The award-winning actor David Oyelowo plays the role of Detective Jack Radcliff in the new film, “Don’t Let Go.”

Not long after the movie begins,  detective Jack Radcliff receives a shocking phone call from his recently murdered niece, Ashley (played by Storm Reid) and Jack does everything possible to try and change history.

The thriller is opening Atlanta’s Bronzelens Film Festival tonight at Landmark’s Midtown Art Cinema. The film’s production company, “Blumhouse Tilt,” has historically focused on horror and thriller films with black actors as the lead like “Get Out,” “Ma,” and “Us.”

“It’s interesting that Blumhouse has become more famous for creating more black-led genre films as of late, I actually think those are the ones that have done the best business. In this film [Don’t Let Go], the director came to me and was just looking for an actor who could embody the character. And the thing that I love about ‘Don’t Let Go’ is that it’s not centered around race, it’s centered around family, which hopefully has a more universal appeal,” said Oyelowo.

“Don’t Let Go” will make its premiere in theaters on Aug. 30.
