Day Focuses On Giving To Georgia Non-Profits

For the first time ever, Georgia-based non-profit organizations have combined their fundraising forces for a one-day blitz hoping for more and bigger contributions.

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits labeled today Georgia Gives Day. The theory is if Georgia non-profits take one day to make people think about the roles the organizations play in their lives, it will lead to more donations.

Georgia Center head Karen Beaver says most groups participating today couldn’t do this by themselves.

“Most non-profits simply just don’t have big marketing staffs and big media budgets and that kind of thing,” said Beaver.

Beaver argues Georgia-based non-profits need donations to continue to feed those in need or provide care to children from low income families, among other services.

She says today differs from last month’s Giving Tuesday, which focused on national non-profits.
