The county is partnering with the PATH Foundation to open the nearly two-mile boardwalk by the end of this month.

“The trail is the new beachfront property, everybody wants to live near a trail. And PATH’s goal is to connect metro Atlanta through a series of trail networks,” says Jonathan McCaig, the construction manager on this project.

McCaig says, eventually, he’d like to connect this trail to Emory’s trails and to the Atlanta BeltLine. But he says serious planning hasn’t gone into that project yet.

The boardwalk will be elevated from 10 to 25 feet off the ground and will connect several neighborhoods, including Medlock Park and Leafmore Creek Park.

McCaig says DeKalb County will host a grand opening of the trail at the end of June.
