Employees strutted down a Delta-branded runway in Atlanta on Tuesday morning while customers and passers-by got a glimpse of the new look.

For many years, Delta’s uniforms have been navy and red. But now, there’s a larger variety of colors with alliterating names, such as Passport Plum, Cruising Cardinal, Groundspeed Graphite, Traveling Thistle and Skyline Slate.

The women’s blouses now have collars inspired by the wing of an airplane, and some uniforms have passport and pen pockets.

The uniforms are also stretchable, wrinkle and stain resistant, waterproof, deodorizing, windproof, anti-static, moisture wicking and machine washable.

The uniforms were designed for a variety of job functions, climates and body types, according to a press release. The design teams conducted thousands of surveys, hundreds of focus groups and shadowed employees on the job.

“As a child, I always loved flying. I always loved the design of planes and pretty much every aspect about it,” Posen said in his speech that proceeded the runway show. A video was posted on his official Facebook page.

“And when this project came, you know, I knew that it was going to be an amazing opportunity and also a great challenge — how to bring style back into the sky — how to do the employees justice.”

Employees will continue showing off their new style around the world. The runway’s next stop is Minneapolis-St. Paul.
