An accused sex offender is no longer affiliated with the annual science fiction fantasy convention held in Atlanta.

With a merger announced Monday, Dragon-Con/A-C-E has become Dragon Con Incorporated. [Note: according to a press release, the convention is named Dragon*Con while the company calls itself Dragon Con.]

After years of attempts, Dragon Con’s board of directors bought out Ed Kramer, who had owned 34% of the company. Kramer, Dragon*Con’s co-founder, faces six counts of child molestation dating back to 2000. The trial has repeatedly been postponed because of Kramer’s health issues.

While Kramer hasn’t managed or organized the convention since 2000, he has received income from the yearly event.

That prompted talk of a Dragon*Con boycott. Last year, organizers estimated Dragon*Con had 40,000 attendees.

Terms of the buyout have not been disclosed.
