EARLY VOTING STARTS
Early voting for the July 22nd primary runoffs started today (Monday) and will continue through July 18. With some big races on the ballot, Georgia’s Secretary of State is promoting early voting.
The election covers a number of local races throughout the state, with most eyes glued to the primary runoffs for the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate race, and both Republican and Democratic nominees for State School Superintendent.
Traditionally, voter turnout drops off for runoff races, which is why Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, says he’s trying to make it easier on voters. ”Early, in-person voting,” says Kemp, “gives people who can’t get to their polling place on election day another option.” But, he says, “it’s really up to them to get out vote and exercise their right and the ability to make a difference in these races.”
In addition to the State’s website, Kemp says there’s a free, ‘one-stop-shop’ voting Mobile App, (search for GA Votes ) where you can actually register to vote on your smartphone or tablet, as long as you have a current driver’s license.
“You can get sample ballots, you can find out early voting location and times, you can get directions to voting date precinct.”
Kemp says military and overseas voters can request an electronic ballot and track that ballot through the App or the My Voter page on the website.
There will also be early, in-person voting on Saturday, July 12th in some counties throughout the state.
