The city of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs has a vision to enhance quality of life through arts and culture. One of its major yearly event puts the arts on very public display: ELEVATE, Atlanta’s public art festival since 2011.
Dorian McDuffie, the Art Program Manger in the Public Art Department of the Office of Cultural Affairs, said that ELEVATE is dedicated to revitalizing underused spaces in Atlanta. She said, “My predecessor Eddie Granderson conceived of it because he wanted to activate parts of downtown Atlanta that were ignored or neglected but had great architecture and great potential.”
