Founded in 1905, the school grew to be among the leading arts institutions in the world. Juilliard graduates read like a “who’s who” in performing arts.

In fact, Atlanta has several illustrious Juilliard alumni. Twenty-four of them have joined forces to put on a concert with the Emory Chamber Music Society.

The program is called “Juilliard in Atlanta” and will feature violinist David Coucheron of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, clarinetist Laura Ardan, dancer and choreographer Lee Harper and many more. They will perform a wide variety of music from Vivaldi to Ginastera for strings, winds, brass and piano.

This concert also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Emory Chamber Music Society.

“I always had in the back of my mind the idea to bring everybody together, really for fun,” society director William Ransom says. “As I started finding out who was here, I thought it was a nice time to do it and the right time to do it in my life and career.”

“Juilliard in Atlanta” takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday in Emerson Concert Hall at Emory’s Schwartz Center.
