0:00: Last week, “Closer Look” kicked off our “County by County” series, where we check in with local leaders around the metro area to hear their outlook for 2019. Up next: we’re hearing from Clayton County – home to more than 285,000 residents, according to the Atlanta Regional Commission. It’s also home to most of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Clayton County Commission Chairman Jeffrey Turner joins us in studio to discuss the issues affecting his region, including transit, economic development and affordable housing.
22:56: We continue our tour of the Gateway Center on Pryor Street with Center founder, Jack Hardin. Yesterday, we aired part one of Rose’s interview with Mr. Hardin at the Center, which has provided essential services to Atlanta’s homeless community since 2002. In part two of the tour, Rose and Mr. Hardin will travel to each floor of the Center. At each stop along the way, we’ll learn about the different services the Center provides, such as medical care and housing.
37:27: We revisit part one of a two-part conversation between Rose and Dr. Tom Smith, Associate Finance Professor at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Rose and Dr. Smith will head to ROXX Tavern on Cheshire Bridge Rd. to discuss the economic outlook for 2019.
Closer Look is produced by Candace Wheeler and Grace Walker.
