Friday on “Closer Look with Rose Scott”:

  • 0:00: Rose gives a news brief about how Dr. Bernice King, CEO of the King Center, is calling for a boycott of Waffle House. This follows several incidents of violent arrests of African Americans, caught on video, taking place at Waffle House locations. On Thursday, Dr. King tweeted, “Family, let’s stay out of @WaffleHouse until the corporate office legitimately and seriously commits to 1) discussion on racism, 2) employee training, and 3) other plans to change; and until they start to implement changes.”
  • 2:32: Mother’s Day is this weekend. We gather local moms, including some who blog, for a round table discussion on parenting, hopes for their kids and their journeys through motherhood. We speak with Joyce Brewer, an Emmy award-winning TV Journalist, parenting talk show host, and creator of MommyTalkShow.com; Stacie Connerty, a blogger at divinelifestyle.com; and Marcela Reyes, president and founder of Hispana Realizada.
  • 25:27: Dr. Jen Welter, in partnership with the NFL Alumni, will host a series of girls’ flag football camps, including in the Atlanta area. In 2015, she was hired by the Arizona Cardinals as a training camp/preseason intern. Welter’s responsibilities included coaching inside linebackers, and she is believed to be the first woman to hold an NFL coaching position of any kind.

The study focuses on anxiety disorders in women, and how contraceptives increase the risk of hormonal imbalance. We talk about this with Ebony Glover, an assistant professor of neuroscience at Kennesaw State University, and Olivia Lauzon, a psychology major at Kennesaw State University, who presented the research in Washington D.C.
