Tuesday on “Closer Look with Rose Scott”:
- 0:00: The iElevate Conference was designed to offer many of the country’s great thought-provoking thinkers, leaders and voices a platform to safely participate and address some of the most sensitive and salient subjects from a faith point of view. This year’s panelists, and speakers, includes Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms; the Rev. Al Sharpton; actress and singer Tisha Campbell-Martin; founder of the She Speaks! Institute For Women Lakara Foster; and Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen of The Vision Cathedral of Atlanta. Foster and Bishop Allen join us in-studio to talk about the conference.
- 20:55: Recently on “Closer Look”, we featured State Rep. Barry Fleming, who currently co-chairs a new committee to study Georgia’s voting system. The committee is working to replace our current system with an updated version, which could use paper ballots. Some researchers have suggested this new proposed voting system has flaws and another alternative should be used. One of those opponents is Dr. Richard DeMillo, professor of computing at Georgia Tech. He joins us in studio.
- 39:00: A recent Supreme Court decision gave all states the ability to legalize sports gambling. We talk about how this case will affect Georgia and other states with Steven Silver, an attorney with Ogletree Deakins and an adjunct professor at the University of Maine Law School.
Closer Look is produced by Candace Wheeler, Emilia Brock and Trevor Young.
