Tuesday on “Closer Look with Rose Scott”:
Today, as we recognize Women’s History Month, it’s a special hour of Closer Look about Women In Leadership. Today, we bring together two round tables of women in leadership roles, across industries, to share their insight and to ask questions of each other.
- 0:00: Some called 2018 the ‘Year of the Woman,’ due to the record-breaking number of women elected to Congress. However, the number of women in leadership positions in business, politics and other industries still remains disproportionately low. The reason? A 2018 study by the Pew Research Center found seven in ten women say one major factor is that women must work harder to prove themselves. We discuss all of this, and more, with Helen Ho, Founding Partner at HKH Law LLC, Rev. Kim Jackson, Associate Rector for Adult Formation and Service Ministries at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, author and 9th President of Spelman College and Gigi Pedraza, Founder and Executive Director of the Latino Community Fund of Georgia.
- 33:00: We continue the conversation with women leaders including Jasmine Crowe, Founder and CEO of Goodr, Inc., Nancy Flake Johnson, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE USA and former Democratic nominee in the 2014 Georgia Senate race and Sheena Roetman, Director of Membership and Programs at the Atlanta Press Club.
Closer Look is produced by Candace Wheeler and Grace Walker.
