Facebook Group Wants Pedestrian Bridge Over Busy Freedom Parkway Intersection

Moreland Avenue splits Freedom Park in two. On a nice day, it’s not just cars getting backed up at the intersection of Freedom Parkway and Moreland, it’s also people on foot, on bike and in strollers.

“It’s a real dance between cyclists and runners and pedestrians and the cars that are turning there,” said Ken Edelstein.

He lives in Candler Park, and is organizing a group of neighbors who like the idea of a bridge over Moreland for pedestrians and cyclists.

“You see these beautiful other pedestrian bridges in other cities. Why can’t Atlanta have that?” Edelstein said.

Edelstein started a Facebook page to support the idea. While the city is considering $250 million in infrastructure upgrades all over town, the Facebook page is all there is behind the bridge idea at this point.
