Fernbank to Host NASA Space Exhibit

The International Space Station is still in orbit, but astronauts will soon be landing in Atlanta.

Starting this Saturday, Fernbank Science Center will host NASA’s Destination Station, an exhibit celebrating space exploration and technology.

The Destination Station is an interactive walk-through exhibit and it will also be the center of a series of astronaut appearances around Atlanta.

The six-week-long exhibit is for all ages.

Joyce Gamble of the Fernbank Science Center:

“We’re hoping that everyone who’s involved in this really gets space fever, I guess, and wants to make sure that they come over and learn more about the space program, and about the International Space Station.”

This is the first year the traveling exhibit has come to Georgia, but NASA has special ties to Fernbank Science Center.

Fernbank is one of only 13 NASA Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academies.

It is also home to the Apollo 6 spacecraft.
