Aurora Theatre is setting up shop on Buford Highway. The playhouse has made the trip down from Lawrenceville to present the Festival de MicroTeatro: El Sueño Americano — The American Dream.

It’s a festival of short plays served up buffet style. The festival hopes to create topical and immersive entertainment experience that can appeal to audiences of all ages. Audiences will enjoy five 15-minute plays in an intimate nontraditional theatre space where they  get to curate their own experience by choosing the order and number of plays they attend in an evening. Local food and music will also be hosted outside of the stages.

Myke Johns spoke with Aurora’s director of Cross-Cultural programs, Juan Unzueta, and Denise Santos from the theatre’s partner on this festival, Latinas Who Lead in Media Atlanta.

The festival will begin at the Northeast Plaza from March 21-30. Tickets are $7 per show or $30 for all five.
