Former Atlanta news anchor's new memoir talks about being fired over his sexuality

At 22 years old, Mark Pettit was a promising anchorman who would go on to receive three Emmy awards for his investigative journalism.

But he would lose his career in the early ‘90s when it was revealed Pettit is a gay man.

Outed and fired from his lead anchor position, Pettit spiraled. He said it wasn’t until a near-death experience that he learned to share his authentic self.
