The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit that raises awareness and works for the preservation of historic sites, announced Thursday that it is seeking nominations for its 2019 list of Georgia’s top 10 “Places in Peril.”

Nominations can be buildings, districts, sites or any significant historic resources that have been neglected over time, have not been properly maintained or have been threatened by demolition or public policy.

Lists in the past have included places like Lyon Farm in Lithonia and Harrington School, a historic African-American school on St. Simons Island.

The 2018 list includes Olmsted Linear Park Properties in Atlanta. The area’s renowned landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, also designed New York City’s Central Park, according to Georgia Trust.

Nominations must meet certain criteria:

  • The sites must be eligible for listing in the national or state register of historic places.
  • There must be a serious threat to the site’s existence or historical, architectural and/or archaeological integrity.
  • There must be enough community support for the site’s preservation.

You can nominate a site through the organization’s website, GeorgiaTrust.org. The deadline is June 11.
