Ga. Panel To Discuss Prevention Of Infant ‘Co-Sleeping’

A Georgia panel plans to discuss ways to educate parents about the dangers of sleeping in the same bed as infants.

The Child Fatality Review Panel’s annual meeting is scheduled for Friday in Decatur. The 17-member panel is overseen by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The agency found that 139 of 155 infant deaths reviewed in Georgia during 2013 were sleep-related. Co-sleeping caused 86 of those deaths. Panel members hope that spreading awareness of the risks can prevent similar deaths.
