Ga. Trump Supporters Push Back Against Negative Narrative

Supporters of Donald Trump gathered at the state capitol Monday to show their approval for the president and the first month of his administration.
About a hundred people showed up to Liberty Plaza in their Make America Great Again finest.
“The hating Trump rhetoric is so prevalent in the newswaves, and I feel like there are just as many of us who support Donald Trump and who agree what he’s doing and really do believe that he’s going to make the country better,” said Kathy Reynolds, who came from Kennesaw.
She said she believes the political divide has caused family members to stop speaking to her.
“I have nieces and nephews who don’t talk to me now, because several are married to Hispanics. One is a transgender,” said Reynolds.
She said it’s too early to judge how the Trump administration is doing. She believes it will be remembered as an effective time, but only looking back.
Georgia Senator Josh McKoon was one of a handful of elected officials who spoke to the crowd.
“The country is not affected, in my opinion, as much by a right-left divide, as much as it is affected by a divide between a handful of elitists who believe they know what’s best for you and the rest of us,” he said.
Georgia Tea Party activists organized the demonstration. They told the crowd of more than 70 that similar gatherings are being planned across the country, many of them this weekend.
Jerry Ramsey of Marietta said that more than anything, he sees Trump’s executive actions and cabinet picks as fulfilling campaign promises.
“Will I agree with every single point of it? Maybe not. But I will probably agree with most of it. Nobody’s perfect,” he said.
Ramsey says the rallies are about keeping Trump supporters motivated.
