In the Garden with Geri: Early Spring Gardening

Spring is very nearly here, and for those with an itchy green thumb, it’s not too early to sow some vegetables.
For those planting along at home, here are the tools and supplies Geri suggests for an early-spring garden:
- nursery trowel, preferably with a solid shank
- spading fork to turn soil
- clippers
- soil conditioner such as compost
- inorganic soil aerator such as Permatill
- lime soil treatment
- small starter vegetables
- cool-season seeds like short-variety carrots, spinach and lettuce
- plant labels
