A state senator is calling for an investigation into the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.

Democratic Sen. Jen Jordan worries EPD failed to act when it found high levels of ethylene oxide near the Sterigenics plant in Smyrna.

That company uses the chemical gas to sterilize medical equipment. ETO also has a direct link to increased cancer risks, according to the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

On Monday’s “All Things Considered,” Jordan sat down with WABE host Jim Burress to give an update on the latest in the ethylene oxide scare.
