Georgia Parents To Protest School Bathroom Policy
A group of parents in the north Georgia mountains say they’re planning to show up at Thursday’s Fannin County school board meeting to voice their concerns about the bathroom policy for students.
Parent Angel Chancey said the group is opposed to the district’s policy of allowing transgender students to choose restrooms according to the gender they identify with.
Superintendent Mark Henson tells WSB-TV that federal guidelines dictate the system’s policy.
Chancey said she and other residents plan to speak out about their concerns at a school board meeting set for 6 p.m. Thursday in Blue Ridge, about 90 miles north of Atlanta.
Nationwide, the issue has fueled fierce debate in recent months.
