This is part of a series of interviews with the Democratic Senate candidates on the ballot June 9, hoping to challenge Republican David Perdue in November.

Jon Ossoff is the former candidate for the 2017 special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District. The former Capitol Hill staffer narrowly lost to Karen Handel, but the race gained him national attention as it was dubbed the most expensive House of Representatives contest in U.S. history.

“The same thing that drew me back into politics in 2017 has inspired me to run now. And that is a deep conviction that our country is on the wrong track,” he said. “That we have the wrong leaders in power. That our politics is being destroyed by political corruption and the voice of the people is being drowned out.”

Ossoff lives in Atlanta where he runs a media production company focused on investigative journalism.
