Heat Advisory Issued Throughout Central Georgia

Forecasters have issued a heat advisory for parts of central Georgia.

The National Weather Service says the heat index on Tuesday afternoon could reach 105 degrees in some areas. The heat advisory is scheduled to begin in the early afternoon and end Tuesday evening.

Forecasters say high temperatures and humidity could lead to illness without precautions.

They recommend staying hydrated, staying in air-conditioned spaces and out of direct sunlight. They also caution that the elderly, the very young and people with heart conditions are most at risk for illness caused by extreme heat.
