That’s the word Monday afternoon from Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry.

“We have not lost one full day of weather in this time frame, even though we’ve had some sporadic showers, just like we’ve had today,” he said “The contractor’s been able to make the most of the weather.”

McMurry said all the beams are now in, and filling them comes next. He said that process should start as early as Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

That being said, he warns that the remaining leg of work is heavily dependent on the weather.

“So, we’re hopeful and optimistic that positive weather, good weather conditions will allow us to finish this up even better than we think,” he said.

State officials announced last week that rebuilding the collapsed section of I-85 will cost up to $16.6 million.
