Atlanta Again Named Most Unequal City In The U.S.

2019 unseats 2016 as Atlanta’s hottest year since record keeping began in the late 1870s. On average, 2019’s nighttime lows were warmer than any other time on record, too.

Atlanta has long liked its titles. The Hollywood of the South. Home to the world’s busiest airport. But the city has another title that it might not be so proud of.

This past week, Bloomberg dubbed Atlanta the most unequal city in the country. The ranking isn’t anything new. The city gets recognition for its income inequality nearly every year.

“Morning Edition” host Lisa Rayam sat down with WABE reporter Stephannie Stokes to talk about her research into Atlanta’s inequities.
