It’s a milestone day for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.

The former first couple is celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary Thursday.

The couple said “I do” on July 7, 1946 in their hometown of Plains, Georgia and that’s where they are celebrating the day.

The Carters say mutual respect and plenty of space is what has kept their marriage together for the past seven decades.

The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta is marking the day with a special 70-cent admission.

The Carters have the second-longest marriage for a former first couple.

George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush had their 71st anniversary earlier this year.
