King Lear Comes To The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse

Long before the phrase “dysfunctional family” was coined, King Lear‘s family embodied it.

The Shakespearean tragedy has influenced many of the narratives in today’s dramas.

Often regarded as Shakespeare’s crowning achievement, this tragedy about the relationship between parents and their offspring shows us how quickly we become blinded by fear and killed with love.

The play is onstage now at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse in Midtown.

Director Jeff Watkins and actor Chris Kayser, who plays King Lear, sat down with Lois Reitzes on “City Lights.”

King Lear is on stage at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse through Nov. 24.
